SoCal Guinea Pig Rescue

I am one of the co founders of the Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue.

In 2021 Annie, Kit and myself with a rockstar team behind us hit the ground running with our foster based rescue.

All of us had years of rescue experience behind us, working with other rescues, shelters and organizations.

All of SCGPR Guinea pigs are cared for in homes by our foster volunteer families. We operate entirely on donations and fundraiser efforts. Our network spans the whole of Southern California and we work closely with shelters and other small animal rescues.

Our goal is simple, to save as many guinea pigs as possible. Right now rescues are experiencing and unprecedented amount of unwanted guinea pigs. We simply can't keep up with the demand and very sadly, cannot take in every piggie.

We are always in need of adopters and fosters. You can find information on our web page on how you can help (linked above)

A portion of The Plush PIggie sales do go back into SCGPR as well as other rescues and shelters.

Recent Rescue Stories

Peaches was living on a golf course for 1-3 months. We were told golfers would feed him fruits, but also things like crackers and bread. With summer temps coming very soon we doubt he would have survived a lot longer. Click on the picture to watch his video on YouTube.

Checkers Story

Checkers was surrendered to a local shelter as a stray. Shelter staff examined him, and deemed him normal And adoptable. He was clearly not. Shelter volunteers were in tears, and desperately seeking a rescue to help. We had to wait a few days to get him out due to shelter rules. We are convinced he had been dropped or thrown, and in essence abused. On top of that he has been severely neglected. Click on his picture to watch his video on YouTube.

Napoleon's Story

Shelter had him as major medical and Orange listed, which means he was in danger of being euthanized 😢 He’s safe now though! Click on his picture to watch his video on YouTube.
